Served as Project Schedule and Cost Engineer as employee of Aerotek on 345 Kv Underground Transmission Line Project in the City of Chicago.  Total Project Scope was $47 Million.  Performed EVM functions.  Scheduled transmission line projects throughout Commonwealth Edison service area.

 

DAY & ZIMMERMAN NPS, Lancaster PA                                                        February 2011

Worked as planner, scheduler, and troubleshooter for this large multinational construction and engineering services provider.  Project was a forced outage on a 1.8 GW three unit mine mouth generating plant in Western PA coal fields.  As a result of my efforts and those of my highly professional team, the project was completed 28 days early and with a very favorable outcome for the client utility  Follow-on work was also planned and is expected to finish early and under budget, with incentive bonus for DZNPS.

 

CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON, Plainfield, IL              2007 to 2009

$6 billion annual volume engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company providing services to operating companies in the energy and natural resource sectors.

 

Senior Project Controls Specialist

Perform scheduling and cost control for large EPC contracts for international projects including large LNG, LPG, Cryogenic storage tanks and Nuclear Power Containment Vessels using Primavera P6 and MS Access software.  Participated in Risk Management processes, Value Engineering, and mentoring of junior engineers.  Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Scheduling and Cost Engineering for Plate Structures segment of this multi billion-dollar annual volume company. Projects included Westinghouse AP1000 reactor structures, Golden Pass LNG, Terasen LNG Peak Shaving, Piedmont Gas LNG Peak Shaving, Suncor Voyageur East Tank Farm, GASSCO LPG tank farm. Succeeded in providing schedule and cost analysis and guidance for senior management to keep projects on schedule and within budgets. Team grew project from $850MM to $1.2B by analyzing project scope, schedules and change orders. 

 

CONSULTING/CONTRACT ASSIGNMENTS               2004 to 2006

Provided estimating and scheduling services on assignments for clients in the industrial and transportation sectors in the Chicago area. Prepared detailed schedules using P3 and P3ec. Performed all levels of estimating including capital appropriation grade and control estimates. As Scheduling Engineer through Construction Cost Systems (2006) I analyzed estimates and reviewed contractor prepared schedules for compliance with contract documents for Illinois Tollway Authority in 18.5 billion dollar expansion, including I-355 extension. As Senior Estimator through Entegee, at Fluor (2005 – 2006) performed estimating at conceptual, preliminary, detailed and project execution phases. Majority of estimating performed using Aspen Icarus Kbase software. Project was large petrochemical plant in Joliet IL Assisted in establishment of cost reporting system for all US operations.

 

Senior Estimator and Cost Engineer at Faithful & Gould                                          (2004 – 2005)

Performed conceptual, preliminary and detailed estimates and estimate validation studies for projects aggregating $75 million dollars. Projects included crude and product tank farms.

Used Risk Analysis techniques to establish project contingencies and risk mitigation plans.

Established database for use in estimating.  Performed cost reporting for thirty-six projects at BP Whiting Refinery

$145 MM annual single-source organization that provides fast track, turnkey engineering, design, procurement, project management and construction management services to power, refinery, petrochemical, food, and pharma clients.

 

Senior Estimator & Project Scheduler

Performed conceptual and capital appropriation grade estimating for power, process and industrial projects for this Engineering News Record top 400 A/E firm. Prepared detailed schedules for engineering, procurement and construction phases. Headed multidisciplinary teams preparing complex estimates.  Presented and defended estimates to senior client management. Lead in risk management value engineering, scope and cost reviews. Performed installation and training for computer based systems such as Icarus Project Manager, Primavera Project Planner and Primavera Contract Manager. Clients included: NRG, CUS, Ogden Martin, Midland Power, ExxonMobil, Citgo, Premcor, ConocoPhillips, Total Petroleum, Flint Hills Resources, AkzoNobel, Stepan, Equistar, Criterion Catalyst, Crossfield Chemicals, DuPont, Abbott Laboratories, Alberto Culver and Unilever. Privately held company that invests in, develops, and redevelops industrial and commercial real estate throughout the eastern half of the US. Served as Project Manager for construction operations for industrial properties in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin, including preacquisition inspections and preparation of cost to cure estimates; selection and coordination of Architects, Engineers, and Contractors.  Planning, budgeting, and supervision of construction for capital improvement and operations and maintenance programs. Completed all projects early and under budget. Handled construction loan inspections with lenders. Prepared departmental budgets for daily, weekly, monthly quarterly and annual budget and cash flow functions with financial group and corporate managers.

 

MAT ASSOCIATES, Chicago, IL               May 1988 to June 1990

National Hotel Developer. As Assistant Project Director functioned as s in charge for Owner on $135MM complete reconstruction of historic 847 room Intercontinental Hotel on Chicago's Magnificent Mile. Performed full range of project management functions, with emphasis on scheduling, cost reporting, claims and changes. Successfully resolved over three hundred change proposals aggregating over $15MM. Project finished within schedule and budget despite massive changes to program brought about by sale of Intercontinental to new overseas ownership.

 

J.A. JONES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, Washington D.C.               November 1980 to April 1988

J.A. Jones built commercial, industrial and governmental project for customers worldwide.

 

Successively increasing responsibilities as Project Engineer, Superintendent, Engineering Group Manager, Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Manager in commercial and industrial markets.

·         Provided legal, scheduling, cost quantification, and related work in large claims.

·         Served as lead scheduler for multi project engineering group.

·         Established and trained scheduling group for PC based CPM, DBMS, and cost reporting.

·         As project manager earned consistently high profits and incentive fees for most profitable division in this multinational organization.

·         Received Award as Employee Making Greatest Contribution to Quality Improvement in 1984.

 

 

PRIOR BUILDING TRADE EXPERIENCE               1968 to 1980

Superintendent for general contractors. Craft experience as carpenter in heavy and hi‑rise construction.  Successive positions as apprentice, journeyman, foreman, concrete superintendent and general superintendent in commercial and industrial projects.
